Volleyball and The Gospel

Tasked with reopening the mission at Camp Mahanaim, Rod and Debbie Wray determined that providing activity for the youth in the community would provide a way to share the Gospel with them. Christ for Youth Charities Foundation heard about the project and a partnership began.
Today, the mission reaches over 200 youth each week, ages 10-13 years old, and more than 70 girls each Saturday as they learn about Jesus’ love for them and other life lessons in Bible study and then getting on the court and playing volleyball.
Rod and Debbie shared with us recently, “As you can imagine, a gymnasium is not a normal or easy project for a missionary to build, or to raise funds for. The Christ for Youth Charities grant allowed us to proceed with construction and the gym has now been completed and in use for three years. … It is the only gym in south of Haiti and the only one in the country that is fully equipped for volleyball and the Lord has allowed us to use volleyball as a great stepping stone for ministry.”
The gymnasium project was possible with a matching grant.
